Unipar signs strategic partnership with Casa dos Ventos to expand renewable energy self-generation

Unipar has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the acquisition of 33 average MW with Ventos de São Norberto Energias Renováveis, an entity of the Casa dos Ventos group. The contract has a 15-year term, with the energy supply period expected to begin in 2028.

The signing of this agreement takes place in the context of the creation of a joint venture between Unipar and Casa dos Ventos. After the fulfillment of the conditions precedent, Unipar will have the right to an equity participation corresponding to 9.8% of the company’s economic capital.

“Energy is an essential input for the chemical industry and a key factor for competitiveness. With our fourth joint venture in renewable generation, we combine disciplined capital allocation with the efficiency of our operations,” says Rodrigo Cannaval, CEO of Unipar. “The initiative contributes to the diversification of the company’s energy matrix and reduces exposure to market volatility.”

“In a challenging scenario for the sector, energy predictability is a relevant differentiator. Self-generation allows us to mitigate market risks, optimize costs, and strengthen the company’s operational and financial resilience,” Cannaval adds.

The partnership reinforces Casa dos Ventos’ positioning as a structurer of self-generation solutions for large industrial consumers, enabling competitive access to renewable energy sources.

“This agreement with Unipar reinforces our ability to structure customized self-generation solutions for large industrial consumers, combining economic efficiency, energy security, and sustainability. We are supporting Brazilian industry in its energy transition and decarbonization journey with solid, long-term projects,” says Lucas Araripe, Executive Director of Casa dos Ventos.

With the new project, Unipar will allocate approximately 192 average MW to its factories in Brazil. The company’s industrial units already operate with 100% renewable electricity, either through self-generation or long-term contracts. Unipar also maintains three other joint ventures in the Tucano (BA), Cajuína (RN), and Lar do Sol (MG) complexes, which supply the Camaçari and Cubatão units.
